What could make you love your home even more? Bringing nature and art together in decorations you make yourself. Start with this beautiful glitter heart twine garland, inspired by All Things DIY. It’s ideal for Valentine’s Day, but it can grace your year-round decor as well.
This project is simple enough for anyone to make, so go get your supplies and get crafting. Make the glitter heart twine garland while you watch your favorite romantic movie, or make it a fun craft night project with your friends.
Make it your own
We used glitter scrapbook paper to make this fun heart garland, but you can use any paper you want to create a truly unique art piece for your home. Is your style more understated? Choose elegant colors like beige, champagne, gray or blush pink. Do you have a more artsy, quirky vibe? Paint your own paper (we suggest thick watercolor paper to avoid curling) for a truly one-of-a-kind creation. Whatever your style, there is a scrapbook paper to express it! Don’t forget that you can customize the color of the branch with paint, too, and use colored twine for additional color.
Finding supplies
You might find what you need for this project in your craft supply stash at home, but if not, check out the craft store for a full selection of scrapbook paper and heart punches. Look no farther than your backyard to find the perfect branch to use as a base for this project, or take a nature walk. Craft stores also stock wooden dowels or branches in the faux flower supplies, if needed.
Decide on the size
You can adjust the size of this project to make a small wall hanging — perfect for that odd spot in your hallway — or make a show-stopping large heart garland as a focal point for your living room wall or to hang above your bed. Just choose a base branch that is long enough to create the size of wall art that you desire. You can also adjust the sizes of hearts, depending on the size of heart punch that you have.

Displaying the finished glitter heart twine garland
Add two loops of twine to both ends of the branch to create a sturdy way to hang the garland (and keep it level on your wall). Hang from hooks or nails on your wall or above a window.
Tip: Glue a penny to the bottom heart on each string to weight it down and keep the hearts hanging straight.
