Cilantro margarita

cilantro-lime margarita

This Cilantro margarita has all of the classic margarita flavors of lime and tequila, but with an added touch of fresh, muddled cilantro. This bright green herb is the typical star of many Mexican dishes; it’s about time it be featured in a typical Mexican cocktail!

This drink is festive enough for celebrating Cinco de Mayo, but refreshing enough to serve any day of the year. It’s a tart and sweet cocktail perfect for summer get togethers like Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day or the Fourth of July. Because all tequila drinkers will love this one!

With a few simple ingredients like tequila, triple sec, lime, sugar, and muddled cilantro, you can stir this up in no time. Cheers to that!

Cilantro margarita

Yield 1 serving

Ingredients

  • Kosher salt
  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 2 ounces triple sec
  • 1 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 3 sprigs cilantro
  • 2 lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Add kosher salt to a small plate. Lightly dip the rim of your glass in water and dip in the kosher salt to create a kosher salt rim.
  2. In a shaker add all ingredients. Using a muddle slightly bruise the cilantro to help bring out the flavor.
  3. Add in ice, top the shaker and shake for about 1 minute to help combine flavors and dissolve the sugar.
  4. Taste the margarita. If you want it sweeter add in more sugar and shake again.
  5. Once perfect pour into the prepared glass and garnish with lime wedges and more cilantro.
