Though we will never get the specific recipe from Mars, Inc. for the original Snickers, we certainly succeeded in making a copycat candy bar that rivals the mass-produced version. Since we’re not good at keeping secrets, we need to share our homemade Snickers bar recipe with you! We suggest that you make several batches and give these copycat Snickers to your closest candy-loving friends and family members. You’ll be proclaimed as their sweet tooth satisfying hero!

We’re not going to claim that this is a fuss-free recipe, but we will guarantee that once you master the copycat layering technique, you’ll want to make these candy bars every week!

Start with one cup of chocolate chips

Pour the mixture into a sprayed, parchment-lined baking dish

Spread the chocolate and peanut butter mixture out evening and place dish in freezer for 2-3 minutes until it hardens.

Add marshmallow fluff to a medium bowl

In a new bowl, add the marshmallow fluff to begin creating the creamy nougat layer of your Snickers bar.

Separate out a 1/4 cup of the remaining peanut butter and add it to the bowl with the marshmallow fluff.

Add powdered sugar to bowl

Pour your powered sugar on top of the peanut butter and start to stir.

Mix together until it forms a creamy nougat

Completely mix together the marshmallow fluff, peanut butter and powdered sugar until your nougat is ready.

Add the nougat to the baking dish and spread it out evenly

After spreading the nougat evenly with a spoon, use your fingers to pat down mixture in the pan.

Sprinkle the dry roasted peanuts onto the top of the nougat

After you sprinkle the peanuts on top of the nougat, use your fingers to gently press the peanuts slightly into the nougat.

Pour caramel cubes into hot saucepan

Take your caramel cubes and pour them into a hot saucepan, but be ready to start stirring immediately.

Add heavy whipping cream to the caramel in the pan

While stirring the caramels, add heavy whipping cream to the pan to create the creamy caramel layer of your homemade Snickers bar.

Mix together until it is completely melted

Stir constantly, until the caramels are melted, to avoid scorching the mixture.

Pour melted caramel mixture into the baking dish

Immediately pour caramel mixture over the nougat, spreading it all over with the back of a wooden spoon. Once spread evenly, put baking dish in the fridge for five minutes or until the caramel layer is completely set.

Melt the remaining chocolate chips in a double boiler or small heatproof bowl over boiling water.

When the mixture is melted and smooth, spread the chocolate layer evenly over the caramel.

After you are done spreading the mixture, stick the pan in the fridge for 10 minutes or until the chocolate layer is completely set.

Copycat Snickers bar

Yield 12-15 bars

Ingredients

  • Cooking spray
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 10 tablespoons creamy peanut butter, divided
  • 7 ounces marshmallow fluff
  • 1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup dry roasted unsalted peanuts
  • 11 ounces caramels
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Use cooking spray to coat the bottom of a 11x7-inch baking dish. Position a piece of parchment paper in the bottom of the dish and up the long sides.
  2. Place one cup of chocolate chips and three tablespoons of peanut butter in a double boiler or a small heatproof bowl over simmering water. Melt chocolate and peanut butter, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Place dish in the freezer for two to three minutes or until it hardens.
  4. In a medium bowl, place marshmallow fluff, four tablespoons (1/4 cup) peanut butter, and powdered sugar. With a wooden spoon or spatula, stir the mixture until it forms a soft dough. If it is too stiff, soften it with a tablespoon of cream or milk.
  5. Remove the nougat from the bowl and place it on top of the chocolate layer.  Using your fingers, pat the nougat down over the entire surface.
  6. Sprinkle peanuts over the nougat and poke them down using gentle pressure.
  7. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the caramels and heavy cream. Cook, stirring constantly, until the caramels are melted. Immediately pour caramel mixture over the nougat, spreading it all over with the back of a wooden spoon.
  8. Place dish in the refrigerator for five minutes or until the caramel layer is set.
  9. In a double boiler or a small heatproof bowl, combine remaining one cup chocolate chips and three tablespoons of peanut butter. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the caramel layer, spreading it evenly.
  10. Place the dish in the refrigerator for 10 minutes, or until the chocolate layer is set.
  11. Using a sharp knife, cut into bars. Serve.
