Strawberry pretzel dessert
Yield 16-20 servings
Ingredients
Crust
- 2 cups pretzels, crushed
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup butter, melted
Filling
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 8 ounces whipped topping
Topping
- 3 ounces strawberry-flavored gelatin
- 2 cups boiling water
- 10 ounces fresh strawberries, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- In a large bowl, combine the pretzels, sugar and melted butter. Mix well.
- Press this mixture into the bottom of a 9x13-inch pan.
- Bake for 10 minutes, or until pretzel layer is lightly toasted. Set aside to cool.
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the sugar and cream cheese. Using a hand mixer, beat until smooth.
- Fold in the whipped topping until well-combined.
- Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel layer.
- Refrigerate until cream cheese mixture is set, about 30 minutes.
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the strawberry gelatin mixture and boiling water.
- Mix in strawberries and refrigerate for five minutes.
- Pour gelatin mixture over the cooled cream cheese layer.
- Refrigerate until completely chilled, at least one hour.
- Cut dessert into squares and serve.
