Crazy, Stupid, Love

MOVIE: Crazy, Stupid, Love (Don’t have it? Get it at Amazon or see more options)
RUNNING TIME: 1 hour, 58 minutes
YEAR OF RELEASE: 2011
RATING: PG-13
STARRING: Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone

When Steve Carell’s Cal Weaver meets self-styled playboy Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling), he initially scoffs at the cat-and-mouse games Palmer plays with women. But with Cal’s wife, Emily, having an affair and their marriage on the brink of divorce, he decides it couldn’t hurt to listen to Jacob. Little does he know, Jacob is simultaneously wooing Cal’s daughter Hannah (Emma Stone). Hey, all’s well that ends well, right?

Although the film depicts Jacob eating pizza, we’re dubious. Did you see his abs? You could grate cheese on them. Bobby Flay’s Margherita pizza seems like the perfect compromise — a lighter spin on classic comfort food.

Sure, it isn’t quite Jacob’s signature Old Fashioned-inspired “Julien” cocktail. However, a cranberry-pomegranate bourbon sparkler makes an ideal signature drink for the movie itself: a little sweet, a little tart and pretty to look at, too.
