Dinner and a movie: Your girls’ night menu ideas

Pour a glass of wine and get comfy, girls. These movie and recipe pairings make hanging with your besties even more fun.

“Whip It” + creamy margarita pie

MOVIE: “Whip It” (Don’t have it? Get it at Amazon or see more options)
RUNNING TIME:  1 hour,  51 minutes
YEAR OF RELEASE: 2009
RATING: PG-13
STARRING: Ellen Page, Alia Shawkat, Kristen Wiig, Juliette Lewis

Strap on your roller skates! “Whip It” features one of the best food fight scenes in the history of cinema, and the food that gets thrown around happens to be perfect junk food for a slumber party.

French fries with lots of ketchup, banana cream pie and chocolate shakes are the weapons of choice in the food fight scene. It’s probably better at this party to eat them rather than throw them, but if it’s not at your house, all bets are off. Even better than cream pie, though, is this mouthwatering (and boozy!) margarita pie that is perfect for any girls’ night in.

“Girls Trip” + a charcuterie board

MOVIE: “Girls Trip” (Don’t have it? Get it at Amazon or see more options)
RUNNING TIME:  2 hours,  2 minutes
YEAR OF RELEASE: 2017
RATING: R
STARRING: Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Tiffany Haddish

A lovely fruit salad featuring grapefruit and banana, a charcuterie board with several types of sausage, absinthe and lots of tea are all you’ll need for this movie. You’ll be too busy laughing to eat much more.

Do everyone a favor and just eat the fruit with a knife and fork, though, OK?

ALSO TRY: Jalapeno popper dip

“Miss Congeniality” + spaghetti

RUNNING TIME:  1 hour,  46 minutes
YEAR OF RELEASE: 2000

Throw your “Miss Congeniality” party on April 25 and have everyone wear a light jacket.

Serve the spaghetti that Gracie likes to dip her steak into — or this healthy version baked in a spaghetti squash — along with bottled beer and pints of Ben & Jerry’s chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.

“Mean Girls” + Gretchen weiners

MOVIE: “Mean Girls” (Don’t have it? Get it at Amazon or see more options)

YEAR OF RELEASE: 2004

STARRING: Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lizzy Caplan, Amanda Seyfried

On Wednesday — the only day you could possibly have a “Mean Girls” party — you and your guests will wear pink.

Browse your Burn Book while chowing down on cheese fries, Gretchen weiners (Tbsp.’s pigs in a blanket), cheese with crackers and Perrier water.

“Mamma Mia!” + Greek food

MOVIE: “Mamma Mia!” (Don’t have it? Get it at Amazon or see more options)
RUNNING TIME:  1 hour,  48 minutes
YEAR OF RELEASE: 2008
RATING: PG-13
STARRING: Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth

Since the action in “Mamma Mia!” takes place on a gorgeous Greek island, spoil your guests with some authentic Greek offerings.

We recommend moussaka, hummus, Greek salad with feta, zucchini pie, spanakopita and baklava. Serve with wedding champagne and wear your wildest ABBA-inspired outfits.

“How to Be Single” + peanut butter pie

MOVIE: “How to Be Single” (Don’t have it? Get it at Amazon or see more options)
RUNNING TIME:  1 hour,  35 minutes
YEAR OF RELEASE: 2016
RATING: R
STARRING: Dakota Johnson, Rebel Wilson, Nicholas Braun

Mend your girl’s freshly broken heart with this movie about moving on.

Of course, a decadent dessert helps, too. Peanut butter pie in honor of the bar peanut scene is definitely in order, with a beer chaser. Pleather skirt suits are a plus.

ALSO TRY: Giant donut cake

“Bridesmaids” + bridal-inspired baked goods

MOVIE: “Bridesmaids” (Don’t have it? Get it at Amazon or see more options)
RUNNING TIME:  2 hours,  5 minutes
YEAR OF RELEASE: 2011
RATING: R
STARRING: Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph

The rule at your “Bridesmaids” viewing party is that everyone must wear their ugliest bridesmaid dress or they can’t come through the door.

The brave who play along will be rewarded handsomely with incredible baked goods: Profiteroles with spiced cannoli filling — aka fancy cream puffs — carrot cake cupcakes, a chocolate fountain and heart-shaped Valentine’s cookies are all on the menu. Stay away from the Brazilian food, though.

RUNNING TIME:  1 hour,  52 minute
YEAR OF RELEASE: 2012
RATING: PG-13
STARRING: Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Rebel Wilson

Break out your yellow flats and Bella blue windbreakers, because it’s time for a “Pitch Perfect” party!

Nerds candy (“I love you, awesome nerds!”), Orange Crush soda (“Crushed it!”), cheesecake and DIY microphone cake pops (place our German chocolate cupcakes in ice cream cones and shake loads of silver glitter sprinkles on top of the frosting) are the perfect accompaniments while playing “Cups.”

No “SATC” party would be complete without a nice, strong cosmo — and brunch, of course!

These jalapeño-cranberry cosmos are a fabulous spin on the girls’ favorite cocktail, and we’ve rounded up some delish brunch recipes for you, too.
