We all have friends who love the sappy holiday movies on Hallmark every season — and those movies definitely have their place. Still, those of us who grew up in the ‘90s know that the ultimate family Christmas movie has always been Home Alone.

With an all-star cast, plenty of laughs and enough tender moments to still make it a bona fide holiday flick, we highly recommend this classic to kick off the festive season with friends and family.

While you’re watching, nosh on these delicious menu items that would make Kevin McAllister proud. No Little Nero’s delivery required.

And now, for our feature presentation…

Appetizer: Pizza pinwheels

The night before his family leaves for Paris, Kevin’s older brother taunts his request for cheese pizza, making that one of the first things Kevin orders when he’s home by himself.

Likewise, you can give your guests the gift of ‘za with these fun pizza pinwheels from Recipe Girl. They call for pepperoni, but you can always just pile on the cheese. It’s what Kevin would have wanted!

Entrée: Turkey meatballs with Asian dipping sauce

Kevin’s Christmas Eve dinner consists of a microwave turkey meal to get him fueled up so he can terrorize the Wet Bandits.

So why not energize your own dinner guests with these yummy turkey meatballs? Served with an Asian dipping sauce, they’re ideal for a meal in front of the television.

Side: Creamy baked macaroni and cheese

We can hardly fault our hero for scoring a box of instant mac and cheese when he’s at the grocery store, but something a little creamier and more decadent will suit your guests’ palates.

Try this sinful baked macaroni (featuring three kinds of cheese, nom) as a complement to the turkey meatballs. Whether you go with cheddar, Gouda and Colby Jack or opt for another cheese combo you love, it’s sure to be a hit.

Dessert: Ice cream with homemade chocolate syrup

There’s nothing like a heaping helping of ice cream topped with delicious chocolate syrup. And, to be honest, watching Kevin eat his sundae during Angels With Filthy Souls piqued our cravings.

Instead of busting out the bottled stuff, top your ice cream with our super-fudgy homemade chocolate syrup. As a bonus, it makes a great holiday gift — simply pour it in a cute jar and add ribbon. Yum!

Beverage: A “Don’t go easy on the Pepsi” float

We aren’t Cousin Fuller — we can handle a little bit of soda with our meal, particularly when that soda mingles with ice cream.

The brilliance of ice cream floats is customization. You can go for the classic combo of Pepsi, Fuller’s favorite, and vanilla ice cream. Or, if you’d like a slightly less caloric alternative, you can try Chocolate Covered Katie’s homemade and healthy cream soda float.

And we probably don’t need to remind you that you can spike any float with holiday spirits.
