We all remember ripping into our Easter baskets as kids. Candy is essential (hello, Peeps!) … but something handcrafted and unique like these bunnies makes Easter morning truly special. After all, anyone can buy a stuffed rabbit from the store, but how many people get a handmade, custom bunny in their baskets? Holidays are about memories, and these are the kinds of things that help create them.
Get creative
Yarn bunnies are so simple to make. Once you put the basic bunny shape together by gluing your handmade pom poms in place, you can put your own spin on them. Choose an alternative color of yarn (green bunny anyone?). Make crazy-long ears … or short. Googly eyes? Why not? It’s all up to you.
Make them as large or small as you wish for household decorations (that cost nearly nothing). Think mantel display, buffet decor, table favors. The holiday options are endless!
Materials for each yarn bunny
- Pompom makers (or DIY pompoms by hand) to make 2 pompoms – one about 2″ diameter and the other about 3″ in diameter
- Pink yarn
- Foam in white and pink
- Googly eyes
- Scissors
- Hot-glue gun
Directions
- Follow the instructions on the pompom makers to make pompoms in two sizes. Then, hot-glue the smaller pompom on top of the other.
- Cut out the shapes to make up the face, including the ears (suggested: two circles for the eyes and a triangle for the nose).
- Hot-glue the ear pieces together, then glue all the shapes and the eyes to the bunny’s head.
