If you’re looking for a refreshing new cocktail for a big celebration (or just for the end of the week!), look no further than our sparkling pear cocktail. It’s fresh, fruity and floral, featuring the delicate flavor of pear as the star of the show.
The champagne flute is the most celebratory of glasses and looks even more elegant when rimmed with a dusting of light green sugar, like the skin of a freshly picked pear. Want an extra-sweet touch on the tongue? Line the rims with a sweet, sticky layer of honey before adding the sugar.

This recipe combines sparkling wine with pear brandy and a hint of citrusy lemon. Pear brandy is a liqueur made from distilled pears and combines their subtle sweetness with the dry, rich flavor of brandy. It’s often labeled as eau de vie de poire. Brandy-based versions of pear liqueur have deep, delicious undertones; other, non-brandy-based liqueurs, have a stronger spirit taste.
If you’re in a DIY mood, you can even make your own pear brandy. All you need is a jar with a lid, your favorite variety of pears, a bottle of brandy, some simple syrup and a little time. In a few days, your homemade pear brandy will be ready! The fun part of making your own is that you can add flavors such as vanilla, cinnamon or whatever you like to your mix.
Serve this cocktail with a sugar cube in the bottom of the flute. Watching the bubbles dance off the cubes is almost as fun as drinking them! Add a thin slice of pear to each glass for a pretty final touch, and you’ll have an effervescent, elegant cocktail that celebrates the taste of fall year round.
