12 new takes on Thanksgiving sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes are 50/50 around our house — half the family likes them, the other half won’t touch them. If you’ve got sweet potato fans in your house, here are a few fresh takes on sweet potato casserole that they will enjoy — and might even gain some new converts!

My personal favorites are loaded baked sweet potatoes that form a pocket or bowl, so they can hold butter, cinnamon and brown sugar all nice and neat.

Loaded sweet potatoes

Sweet potato casserole is one of the sweet treats of Thanksgiving dinner. This recipe for Loaded sweet potatoes by Six Sisters’ Stuff, tops the potato with mini marshmallows. You can easily customize it to your liking by adding or subtracting marshmallows, pecans and brown sugar.

For a fresh twist on the traditional Thanksgiving sweet potatoes, try the Layered sweet potato casserole from Mostly Homemade Mom. The casserole is made up of three layers and only three ingredients, but it helps create a caramel sauce that your guests will fight over.
