Learn how to make trendy floral letters for Mother’s Day

Need a homemade Mother’s Day gift that is unique, gorgeous, and simple? Want to WOW mom with a personalized treasure she’ll be thrilled to display? We’ve got just the thing! This wooden floral letter craft is stunning and makes a special gift for any mom in your life. It’s also shockingly easy. You’ll get so many ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ over this you may not want everyone to know just how easy it was!

One trip to your local arts and crafts store is all you’ll need to make sure you have the supplies on hand. If you happen to have a coupon for said arts and crafts store, this project becomes even more appealing and budget friendly.

All you need to create something beautiful is the appropriate wooden letter for the recipient, an assortment of fake flowers in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors, a glue gun, and some scissors. Don’t forget your creativity and imagination!

If you know the favorite colors of the special mom that will get this gift, choose flowers in those colors. Match the decor in her house. Choose roses if she’s a rose fanatic. Go with more greenery if she prefers less floral and more ‘nature’. The more you can personalize, the more she’ll appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Floral letter craft project - B with flowers

Be sure to choose a variety of sizes and shapes of flowers. The smaller ones will work as “filler” for the empty space between the bigger buds. Different shapes and sizes add variety and depth to the finished product. Buy more flowers than you think you’ll need and either keep the extra for another project or return what you don’t use.

When cutting the flower from the stems, cut them as close to the flower as possible so it lays flat. Sharp scissors or wire cutters are important. Play with your design a bit before beginning to glue them to the letter. Find the perfect combination of size and color to create a masterpiece. If you add leaves to your arrangement, hot glue them below where you will place the flower so it appears they are growing off the letter. Be generous with your use of the hot glue – you don’t want gaps where flowers have fallen off!

If you’re going for flower overload, place them closely together and fill in the holes with the smaller, filler flowers you chose. For more variety, place the flowers a bit further apart and fill in with leaves and other greenery. For an added touch of elegance, you can place pearls and other little beads along with the filler.

For the final touch, consider adding an elegant ribbon to the back of the letter so mom has a choice of hanging it from a wall or door, or placing it on a shelf or other surface. She will be amazed by your stunning gift! The fun will be in finding the perfect location to display it.

Why save this special gift for Mother’s Day? It would be the perfect, homemade with love gift for a baby or wedding shower, birthday, anniversary – the occasions are endless.

One final tip — hot glue burns hurt! Keep a bowl of water nearby…just in case!
