Gather supplies

Fold a sheet of tissue paper in half by folding the short ends together. Straighten out any creases or wrinkles.

Fold tissue paper two more times

Fold tissue paper in half again, going in the other direction, twice. You are again putting the shorter ends together.

Cut tissue paper

Cut a 2-inch-thick strip of the folded tissue paper going longways and stopping about 5 inches from the top. Repeat across the folded tissue paper to create streamers

Continue cutting

Streamer-like strands should be forming.

Final cuts

Undo the last two folds, cut any streamers to proper width that did not get cut previously due to the folds. Then, cut up the center all the way to create two separate streamers.

Begin rolling

Unfold the tissue paper completely. Then, using the middle section that holds the two sides of the streamers together, create a tight roll until the whole streamer is together in one roll.

Twist

Twist the center, and then form a loop with the twisted portion.

Glue loop

Use a hot-glue gun to hold the loop together. Repeat for each streamer.

String streamers up

String twine through the loops of streamers.

Materials

  • Tissue paper — varied colors of your choice
  • Twine
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Fold a sheet of tissue paper in half — fold short ends together.
  2. Straighten to get folds and wrinkles out.
  3. Fold in half in the opposite direction.
  4. Fold once more in the same direction as step 3.
  5. Cut a 2-inch-thick strip of the folded tissue paper going longways and stopping about 5 inches from the top. Repeat across the folded tissue paper to create streamers.
  6. When all slits have been cut, unfold the last two folds, and cut the strips that did not get cut due to folds.
  7. Cut down the center to create two streamers.
  8. Separate and unfold.
  9. Using the middle section that holds the two sides of streamers together, create a tight roll until the whole streamer is together in one roll.
  10. Then, twist the center, and then form a loop with the twisted portion.
  11. Use hot-glue gun to hold loop together.
  12. Repeat for each streamer you want on your banner.
  13. String twine through loops of streamers.
  14. Hang banner by each end of the twine.
