Christmas and tealights go together like hot chocolate and marshmallows. Maybe you’ve even seen those miniature villages of tealight houses, all decked out in winter loveliness, and delighting all with their homey charm.
Houses aren’t the only tealight candle decorations to enjoy this season, though! You can turn an ordinary electric tealight into an adorable snowman ornament with just a few supplies and a little bit of hot glue. You’ll wind up with a delightful tree decoration, or sweet little gift (or gift-topper) for a teacher, hostess or coworker.
Snowmen reimagined
This festive little snowman tealight craft project is cute and clever — an adorable addition to any Christmas decor. Make a few, and mix things up a bit by giving them differently-colored scarves and earmuffs. You could even draw on a bigger smile, different expressions (no frowns allowed!) or some eyelashes.

Supplies for each snowman tealight
- 1 battery-powered tealight candle
- Small pompom
- Red pipe cleaners/chenille sticks, cut in half
- Sandpaper or sanding block
- Decorative festive ribbon, approximately 1/2-inch wide and about 8 inches long
- Twine
- Fine-tipped black permanent marker
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
Directions: How to make a snowman tealight
- Gently sand down the top edge of one side of the tealight.
- On the rough edge, hot-glue around half the top edge of the tealight and attach the pipe cleaner around the light. Leave a little part of the pipe cleaner unglued in the middle.
- Wrap the ends of the pipe cleaners into little buns, like earmuffs, and glue those down, too.
- With decorative ribbon, make a loop and glue together.
- Hot-glue the tealight on top of the ribbon loop, so it looks like a scarf hanging down.
- Carefully slide the twine under the unglued portion of the chenille stick and tie it in a loop like an ornament hanger.
- With a black permanent marker, draw eyes and a mouth.
- Hang your snowman up somewhere, flick the switch, and let him light up your holiday season!
